Nevermind...after prying it some more, it just popped right off...I don't know why I was having such a hard time with it before. Original post below for posterity (and embarrassment)


I bought the base Tivo Roamio model and a new HDD to upgrade it right off the bat. I looked at various guides and it sounded a lot easier than when I upgraded my Tivo HD (open it up, plug in new drive, wait for OS to flash/reinstall).

So I opened up the box for my new Tivo, took off the two screws on the back (though I think one above the HDMI port is not for the case), but I still can't figure out how the lid is supposed to come off. I have a little movement from the back where the screws were removed, but I definitely broke a clip trying to pry it open and I don't want to move any further.

So did I make a mistake buying the base model? I figured since I was upgrading the HDD and didn't need six tuners or Stream capabilities, I thought it was alright. And none of the guides reference how to OPEN the case, they just say use the Torx screwdriver. Does anyone have any advice or can guide me how to open the unit?

tl;dr - I don't know how to open up the Tivo Roamio (base model) and I need help
