  • Haywire Remote

Last few weeks I have had an issue with my TIVO2. All of a sudden the TIVO will start reacting to my remote commands in a haphazard manner. If I push the up button, the selector might go down. Or if I push the select button the selector might go up. This appears to be all very random. I have two remotes and both are affected simultaneously. One of these also controls my TV and the TV controls are fine.

Everytime this happens, the "fix" is ALWAYS to reboot my TIVO, after which I am good for a couple of days.

Comments or thoughts would greatly be appreciated!

Try moving your TiVo to another room or remove ALL remotes from the room, except for one TiVo remote. This sounds like interference, possibly from another remote with a button stuck down.

I have read the many comments of folks having a remote under a cushion or such, so I have been very careful about this. I moved the entire unit into a separate room and I am pretty sure there is not other source of interference. The other thing that doesn't fit is that it is strikingly improved by rebooting, and then works perfectly for a day or two or three. It really seems like it is coming from the unit. Is this possibly from a faulty face plate or motherboard?

Then you should probably try a new faceplate. We've got most models here:
