    Tivo Premiere 4 lights flashing

    I have a Tivo Premiere TCD746320 with an upgraded hard drive. Yesterday it started flashing 4 lights when powered on. I switched back to the original hard drive and it does exactly the same thing. I have no problem replacing the power supply but I'm curious what the chances are that it's the power supply vs the motherboard and/or if I'd be charged a restocking fee if the power supply doesn't fix it and I'd end up needing to buy a new Tivo anyway.

    I can't say we've seen that on a Premiere at this point, but a power supply is worth a shot, given the results of the drive swap.

    You might also try booting the unit with only the power connected, and no TV, network, CableCARD, etc.

    We do charge a restocking fee if you need to return the power supply ($15 in this case).

      Thanks for the info! I've done the boot with nothing connected - same results. Tivo will replace the whole thing for $79 or I can do a roamio for 199. If a power supply didn't do it, what are the next steps usually?

        Another question. I took the larger drive out of the Tivo and hooked it up to my PC. It's not detected at all in the device manager/storage manager. That makes me think I could actually have two bad drives. Is there a way for me to get a stock image to put onto a fresh drive?
