Hard Drive transfer

We have just received our new hard drive for a Phillips Tivo. Is there a way to transfer contents of old hard drive to the new one?

We can do it here, assuming the old hard drive is fully working.

You can do it also, but it requires a PC that has IDE connections and that can boot off a Linux CD.

Been here a long time . . .

Tell me more about that last option. How do I do it myself, and what software will I need?
