  • Toshiba SDH400 not finding cable connection

We had a bad storm, lost power and now are having a problem with our old Toshiba. Typically, when we lose power, I reset my modem/router and my Series 2 will then connect and runs fine. The Toshiba is connected to an analog/digital converter (not a cable box) for basic stations. After the power loss, the Toshiba tries to boot up and stops on "searching for signal". We can watch recorded shows, but not live tv, so the hard drive must be ok.

In the past, we unplugged/plugged in the tivo unit and all was fixed. This time that fix does not work. There is another tv connected to this same cable (no tivo) and it works fine, so the cable is ok.

I really feel nothing is wrong, it is just something with plugging and unplugging in whatever order (with the converter/tivo) to make this work again. Any thoughts? Thank you.

That sounds like a bad tuner - we do see that happen in this specific model from time to time.

Do you have lifetime service on the unit? If so, it's worth fixing. If not, it's probably time for a new unit.

We have DVD units (with burners or with players, like yours) and we even have some that already have lifetime service on them, so that might be another good option. See this page:

If you have lifetime on your current TiVo and want to consider a repair, see this page:

    Been here a long time . . .
