Can I transplant a hard drive from one TiVo Series 3 to another?

I have two TiVo Series 3.
One has large hard drive without lifetime service.
Other has small hard drive with lifetime service.

Can I swap the hard drives so the unit with lifetime service will have the larger drive?

Assume I would need to repeat guided setup and loose all recorded programing, but other than that, shoult the swap work?

Yes - assuming they are identical model units, that will work. You will need to do a "clear and delete everything" once the drive is in the other unit, otherwise you'll get the Hardware Error #51.
