Hi all--We have the same problem as a bunch of people encountered--Tivo getting stuck on the powering up screen. We've been owners since the original Series 1, gave that away and got the Series 3 when we got a HDTV. So, I think we've had the S3 for about 3-4 years and it seems that the problem is with the hard drive.
Spoke to Tivo and they're offering us a good deal on a new Premiere and $200 for putting our lifetime service on the new unit.
Question is--would you do it? We don't watch that much of network tv anymore and thinking about cancelling cable tv totally. You can get tv via the stations themselves with a laptop or iPhone connection. Now a new service called "Aereo" is rolling out which offers the networks plus DVR functionality in the cloud. We already get Netflix, Hulu, etc. via our internet enabled DVD player.
