    (Samsung SIR S4120 D.TV DVR series 2 )
Today on 1/30 I had 2 programs on Spike tv from 6 - 7 pm ,both are 30 mins ea & I had another program on A & E from 6:30 - 7 pm but it wanted to clip part of the program on A & E in order to record all the 2nd program on Spike ,it seems to me there shouldn"t be a conflict since it has 2 inputs, but yet on 2/6 I have 2 programs on at the same time on 2 different channels and it shows it recording both programs with no problem ,and I also have noticed on some channels when I try to set up a wishlist or season pass to record a certain series it will say there is no upcoming programs for that series and so it won't record the program but yet when I go to D.TVs online guide or the on screen guide the programs are there at their normal time, but yet sometimes if I go to D.TVs online guide and hit the "record this series"button it will see and record the program, and these are either daily or weekly programs, why is it doing this ? it's weird !

The recording history will tell you why something was not recorded. To Do List > View Recording History

That doesn't explain why it wanted to clip up to 5 min's from the 2nd of my 2 programs on Spike order to record my one program on A & E even though the programs were on different channels, the 2 Spike programs were from 6 - 6:30 & 6:30 -7pm and the A&E was 6:30 - 7pm, and I know that there was plenty of recording space left on my DVRs hard drive since it maxes out @ 169hr's and it still had at least 34 hr's left so I'm assuming that wasn't the cause ,and as I stated I have two programs set up on Feb 6th on 2 different chanels both on at the same time, and when I programed the DVR to record them it didn't give any notice saying it needed to clip one of them, so I'm clueless why that occured on the 30th as it gave no explaination why it needed to do that to those programs.

Are you sure those were the exact scheduled times? Many networks are going off the strict :00 and :30 times these days.

All I know is those are the times both the on screen & on line schedules showed for the programs,oh well whatever, but your comment about the times brings up a question about something else I have noticed,on some programs when my DVR records a show I notice that it seems like the actual end time of a program listed and my DVR don't agree as quite a few of them I have to have it record 1 extra min longer to get the entire program in or else the ending of that specific program gets cut off and what's weird is it only seems to do this on some programs but not others ,is this a timeing problem with my DVR I can fix somehow or is it just due to the signal time lag between Direct Tv's satelight & my DVR or is it something else ?

I think it's just that networks are intentionally overlapping stated times, a bit. My assumption is that this is either to squeeze an extra commercial slot into a popular program, or to get customers frustrated with their DVRs.

Ok, well thanks, one last question ,I have 3 of the newer type DTV remotes (RC- 23) and I'm just wondering if they would work with my series 2 Samsung SIR-S4120-R Dtv DVR or if they won't work with it will an aftermarket universal remote work, or am I stuck with using the peanut remote ?

Ha! Most people vastly prefer the Peanut remote!

But, yes, your RC-23 will work with the TiVo. Instructions for programming the remote are here:

The same info works for your model.
