I have the above described unit on a lifetime service plan with tivo.

For a long time, this unit has had audio skips that are extremely intermittent, and it is hooked up with component cables rather than HDMI and it currently does not have a cable card installed thus all the channels are non digital.

Whether it be live programming, or playback, I have intermittent audio skips that last for up to 2 minutes or more. A couple of nights ago, it did not occur till we had been watching for 2 hours. It is not limited to any one certain channel.

It is annoying when it occurs but at other times it does just fine.

My quandry is whether to spend the $140 for the hd upgrade. If I get it, do the install myself, and the problems still are present, then what?
