I have a re-boot problem that seems unique and before I invest in a new hard drive I'd like to get some input on my scenario.
Our Tivo started re-booting last week. I checked the forum about the S3 re-boot and tried the reprogram each cable card one at a time. This did not work. I had removed both cable cards and gone through the general setup routine. I've had Comcast re-pair the cards to the Tivo with no fix. Below is what I have done.
1) Obtained 1 new Cable card from Comcast.
2) Installed OLD Card 1 in slot 1, no card in slot 2.
3) Tivo worked fine.
3) Installed New card in slot 2, Tivo started reboot loop.
4) Removed BOTH cards. Put New card in slot 1. Had Comcast pair the card to the Tivo. (I receive all cable channels and the Tivo fuctions fine for multiple days)
5) Put old card in slot 2, Tivo starts reboot loop.
6) Remove old card from slot 2. Tivo runs fine for multiple days.
7) Obtained 1 new, second Cable card from Comcast.
8) Install second new card in slot 2, have Comcast pair the second card. Tivo runs for 4 hours fine then starts reboot loop.
9) Remove second new card from slot 2, Tivo boots and runs fine.
I'm thinking that there is a problem with the cable card carrier interfacing to the tivo main board. Am I wrong to assume this?
Can someone offer some insight to the issue I might be having? If I need to send the Tivo into be repaired I don't want to put a hard drive in if that is not the problem.
Thanks for any assistance in advance.
