  • Tivo HD Dead, Repairable?

So today I came home to find my Tivo HD with lifetime service has died. I stumbled upon this site through Google, and so far I've verified that the issue is neither my power supply unit nor HDD (checked by swapping in parts from a known working spare S3). I'm definitely getting power to the motherboard (I see voltage in my multimeter) and HDD (I can hear it spin), but no lights come on and the fan does not spin up. Any suggested next steps? Is this something you folks are willing/able to look at?

Are you swapping parts from an identical model number?

The Tivo that has failed is a Tivo HD (TCD652160). The donor Tivo is a Series 3 (TCD648250). Last night in my rush, I had checked your site and thought I saw that they used the same PSU, but now looking at your purchase page, there appear to be different. The behavior with both PSU's was the same (no fan, no lights), but I verified the S3 PSU is good. Do they provide different power output to the Tivo itself? Is it worth ordering a new Tivo HD PSU to check?

Those are definitely NOT interchangeable parts.
