My R10 Series 2 has been randomly rebooting daily now for a while. This morning I replaced both the HD and the power supply, which I had previously acquired from Weaknees (purchased Jan. 2011). All went well with the hardware installation, the initial startup, and the reactivation call.
About 30 minutes after all that, and while watching live TV, it blinked off and rebooted, just like it's been doing before the hardware replacement. The drive is an exact replacement of the original. I performed the calling and downloading/installing procedure before the failure (reboot).
By all accounts, it is still a drive problem. But is it possible there is something going on with the dish? It is a round Winegard crank-up dish on the top of my motorhome.
I do not have a UPS installed, and am going to town now for one of those. The power is coming from the State Park's pedestal, next to the maintenance yard where I am parked this month, but I've not been able to detect any irregularities there. (I'm a full-time volunteer parks host with Oregon Parks & Rec. Dept.)
I would have no problem purchasing another drive (perhaps a better or bigger one) for this receiver. But throwing hard drives at an unknown problem (kinda like I did this morning) doesn't seem very sensible.
What else should I take into consideration and pursue? Thanks!!

[ Edit - 1:15 pm ] UPS unit has been added... although the receiver had been plugged into a surge suppressor plug unit. We'll see.
