Is there any way to kickstart a Sony SVR-3000 model TiVo?

I'm stuck on the grey Powering Up screen after moving the TiVo to a different location. It may be my (almost-new) hard drive, but I tried the old hard drive, with no better results. The old drive was still working but giving S03 errors when I replaced it. I'm trying to diagnose the problem.

If your machine doesn't ever go past the "powering up" screen, then you can't do a kickstart.

Sounds like you need a new drive:

Thanks for the feedback. I was afraid of that. If not for the Lifetime subscription, I would have given up on this box a long time ago. It's on its fourth hard drive (last replaced 6 months ago!) and third cooling fan. It might just be time to let it go.

        It's a great unit - seems a shame to let it go . . .

Update: It looks like it was just a bad IDE cable!
Maybe the box will last another 9 1/2 years.

While rare, we have seen IDE cables fail over time.
