I have had no local channels now for about a week. The channels no longer appear on the guide nor appear after entering the channel number. I have forced the daily telephone call several times and it has succeeded. The scheduled daily calls have been successfull. The middle of the night satalite service data download has succeeded. I have restarted and reset the box. I have unplugged the box. I have cleared and deleted the recorded programs. I have waited 24 hours and then I waited 72 hours. All these things over five or six calls to directv I have done. My phone line is fine. I am on my third weaknees hard drive, this current one is maybe one year old.

Whenever I phone Directv they try to solve the problem but eventually just try to get me to upgrade to a newer box. I am happy with this old box. What else can I try?
