Old remote/new led tv

I have a Humax series 2 and bought a new LG LED TV. The remote will not turn the TV on or off as well control the volume. Do I need a new remote?

Did you try to reprogram the remote? If yes, then I'd suggest you get a Glo remote, which can learn commands from your TV's remote. See the Original TIVo Glo remote with DVR1/DVR2 switch.
