Last night, my TiVo HD (purchased new in Nov 2009) spontaneously rebooted while we were watching a recorded program. When it came back up, it rebooted again withing a couple of minutes. That continued for several cycles, sometimes not even coming all the way up before rebooting. Eventually it looked like it was running and I tried to transfer some programs to another TiVo, but the HD was never up long enough for a transfer to complete. At that point, I went to bed. This morning, I turned the TV on and saw the "just a few minutes more" screen. The colors on the screen seemed off, like you can get on an RGB connection when one of the colors is not connected. At that point, I figured the unit had been rebooting all night and unplugged it.
I haven't seen pixelation or stuttering - well, not recently. Last year, I was seeing a bit of that and the unit rebooted a couple of times at the same point in a program. I ran the disk diagnostics and haven't seen a problem since. I can't remember the last time the unit rebooted on its own.
I'm open to any ideas. When I get home from work tonight, I will try to run the disk diagnostics, if I can keep the unit running long enough. I'll also try the cablecard reset that I saw described in the S3 reboot thread. The symptoms described in that thread didn't seem to match exactly and it's a different model, so I am hopeful but not confident I'm having the same problem.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. If I can't fix the problem myself, I'm going to have to decide between shipping the unit off for repair, or just replacing it with a Premiere.
