  • Toshiba DMS SDH400

I have an old Toshiba SDH400 using the Basic TiVo service that had been connected to Comcast.

I then switched to FiOS, and I used the FiOS DVR instead, but I left TiVo connected.

I recently decided to start using TiVo again. It appeared to be working as it had all these shows that it failed to record because there was was no analog signal. I connected it to a FiOS DTA box to get an analog signal and connected the IR lights to control the DTA box.

Then started the guided setup to reprogram the channels. It failed to connect. I listened in on the line, and at least one of the modems was talking, but they weren't connecting. My initial assessment is that the far end was not responding. Anyhow, now I'm stuck in the middle of guided setup and can't go forwards or backwards.

Has Toshiba disconnected the far end line?

Can I fix this by buying the wireless adaptor and bypassing the phone line for the guided setup?

How do I get back to the part of the guided setup where I select the connection method?

Is there any way I can cancel the guided setup and at least see the programs previously recorded?

Yes, I'd get your unit wired and bypass the phone. Just pull the plug and guided setup will start over. You can't get out of guided setup unless/until you actually complete it.
