I have no idea where else to turn... Found this forum, actually seems to have more helpful people from what I read. So here goes, bare with me...
I am on my fourth TiVo S3 HDXL. I currently have it hooked up with Cable TV with a Multistream CableCARD.
Problem with my current TiVo: I found it with just the green Power LED, and when I fired my TV up, I had a gray screen. I could not access any menus, or when I pressed a button on my remote, the TiVo did not show the light flash for remote activity...
Well, okay, I power cycle the TiVo... It gets to Almost there, then the screen just goes pinkish tint, and freezes. Eventually it reboots, and then just crashes to a gray screen. If I reboot it enough, it will boot to my TiVo Central. However, it's a pain in the neck.
My original S3 HDXL had an issue where it just rebooted all the time for fun. I did do the CableCARD trick of removing, performing the setup, and it'd work, but that got old, fast. Paid TiVo $50, they sent me a new one. That one didn't even get to Guided Setup... Failed KickStart 54 tests out of the box. Sent me another one, that did the same thing: Rebooted, yet passed KS54 tests.
Current TiVo: It passed the hard drive test. I ruled the Power supply out, since it'd stay active on the tests for awhile. Then it'd just die. I did remove every wire except Component and Power. Still seems to act up (And CableCARD removed)
I have swapped the CableCARDs, in fact I put a brand spanking new CableCARD into my new TiVo (I work for the cable company, and went straight to the warehouse to get the freshest card). All RF signals are great, properly balanced. I have the TiVo hooked to a 2 way Splitter. 1 leg feeds my TiVo, one feeds the cable box. I've had that same cable box for over 5 years not a single issue with tiling.
I am lost. Do I just keep swapping TiVos? Am I doing something wrong? The TiVo sits on a high end APC SmartUPS battery backup. It hasn't been powered down once since I plugged it in for the first time.
I love TiVo, but at the same time, I really hate it... If anyone can provide any help, insight, anything. I'd be grateful. Just sick of my TiVo DVR... Not recording anything due to being down.
Thanks
