I'm getting the S03 error on a Series-2 with 250GB Weaknees drive purchased years ago. If I do 2-3 kickstart 57's in a row, then I can get a successful guide update without the error.

There's no errors from Tivo's disk diagnostic.

A friend of mine has SpinRite, so we ran it's deepest mode scan (where it reads and toggles every bit on the drive - took a couple days) and it passed with no errors.

I did a "Clear and Delete Everything" and repeated Guided setup. That worked for a month or so, then S03 started reappearing.

In all other respects my Tivo is running perfectly.

I have it setup for antenna with converter box and Dish network. (However for Dish, I have unchecked all but one channel since I don't really have Dish, but needed to use that input for something else)

I called Tivo and they just told me I'd gotten enough use out of it, and I should buy a new one. I wasn't impressed with their help. :-)

Everything I can find online says I need a new disk, but that's not making sense to me given the tests I've run. I'm beginning to think its a software bug.
