I got a Premiere Elite for Christmas and have a question about the Search by Title function in it.
With my old TiVo boxes, I would perform a weekly search for upcoming movies. I'd do this by doing a search by title. The next screen would come up giving me categories of what I wanted to search. I'd pick movies. Then in the subcategories screen I'd pick nothing. Then, when the screen for entering the title came up I'd put in the number one. This would generate a list of all the movies coming up in the TiVo's program guide starting with the number one and ending with the letter Z. I could scroll this list, find the movied I wanted to see and click to record them.
With the new TiVo Elite Premiere the first thing I had to do was tell the machine to use classic TiVo SD menues instead of the new HD menues. Not a big deal.
But here's the problem:
When I initiate a search by title, I don't get those first two category screens that allow me to limit my search by categories. The first screen I get is the one where I'm supposed to enter the title to begin the search. As I result, I can't search for movies anymore, which is disappointing and frustrating.
Do ALL Premiere Elite machines lack the categoriess screens in a Search By Title search, or is it a glitch in my machine?
And, as follow up questions:
1) If it's in all Premiere machines, can anyone suggest a strategy by which I could search out the titles of upcoming movies. (Doing a Wishlish search on just movies doesn't work, as the machine will only load two days worth of movies.) The strategy could be in either HD menues or SD menues, either way is fine so long as it works.
2) If it's a glitch in my machine, any suggestions on how to fix it? (i've tried going through guided set-up again and unplugging and restarting the TiVo, neither fixed the problem.)
Any help you can offer would be appreciated.
