Some thift store browsing brought me a good deal on an old HR10-250.
It powers up just fine, finds the satellite just fine and tunes most of the local HD stations. Overall it appears to be in very good shape with almost no dust in it and possibly last used in mid-2007 or so based on the dates of the things recorded on it. It does not look like it was used for very long. Very little recorded on it.
Have not yet tested the infamous HDMI port. It would be kinda nice if that worked. Currently using an ancient SD-DVR40 with SVHS as the best picture it can offer so this would be a step up.
So the question is, if I call DirecTV and ask to activate this receiver, are they likely to tell me it was leased and want it back? If they do agree to let me add it and send me a new access card, are they going to want a contract?
Thanks!
Patrick
