  • New subscription cancellation?

    I have a VERY old TiVo unit, possibly the first or second year it was started. The unit recently quit responding to the remote, and when I unplug, and then replug-in, the unit it does not go into the reboot mode that I am used to.

    So, two questions:
    1) Can it be repaired without losing my lifetime subscription, and

    2) If I purchase a new unit and decide to go with the month to month subscription and then discontinue it, will the unit continue to record and program with only the channel numbers but no guide info?

    My old unit had a life time sub, but because it operated on a land line I had not updated for many months since I only have a cell phone. I could still program recordings by channel and time but the program info was not available.

    2) No, any Series 2, 3 or 4 TiVo has no use without a subscription.
