  • Series 2 Dual tuner - Channel 4 not clear

    Currently Tivo is connected to my TV on a separate input than the cable standard input. Can record 2 pgms and watch anything else on the TV without a problem. Recently noticed channel 4 via the TIVO is not clear. Fuzzy and some lines across it. Watching live TV directly the channel if great. Watching it via Tivo live or a recorded pgm, it is not. Channel 3 and 5 are fine along with all others. Only channel 4 is a problem. It is directly connected from the wall, not channel box is installed.

    It sounds like you might have an internal tuner issue. The only option I can suggest is the flat-fee repair, see:

      Check out few of the things:
      1.The RF coaxial cable coming out of the cable jack on your wall to the In connector on the included splitter. If the cable from the wall is connected to your cable box, detach it from the cable box and connect it to the splitter.

      2. Connect the two included RF coaxial cables to the two Out connectors on the splitter. Connect one of the cables from the splitter to the RF In jack on the cable box, and connect the other to the Cable/Antenna RF In jack on the DVR.

        Think the problem has been found

        After additional testing, it appears that one of the tuners is going bad. Setting both tuners to channel 4 and switching between them, one is clear, the other is fuzzy. Now notice that some recordings on 4 are clearer than others. Must depend on the tuner selected by TIVO for the recording. Will send it in for repair after the current new season is over. Not bad enough at this time to do it. Thanks for everyone's help. DB
