I recently purchased a non-working TiVo Bolt TCD849000 with lifetime service off eBay.
At power-up, a green led lights and "TiVo" is briefly displayed on the screen then both go out quickly and it repeats this in a continuous loop.
Seller stated in listing "Weaknees diagnosed as needs hard drive" (he has not said how this diagnosis was made). I replaced the hard drive with a new one but it still does the same reboot loop. (I have successfully replaced hard drives on 6+ TiVos including 3 Bolts, so I'm not a novice at doing this).
I placed the original 1TB WD drive in an enclosure and Crystal Disk Info SMART data shows GOOD status, 92 reboot cycles, ~46,000 hours, and no errors, so this drive is most likely not the cause of the failure, especially since a new hard drive exhibits the same behavior.
I measured the power supply voltage at 12VDC but also plugged in a PS from a working TiVo Bolt to no avail.
I have visually inspected the board and drive cable and there do not appear to be any obvious areas of concern.
Since this is most likely not a hard drive or power supply issue, what are the other failure possibilities? Is it even possible to replace a main board component if that is the issue or is this most likely considered a dead unit?
Thanks.
