I upgraded to a Premiere right as they came out and stowed my Series3 in a closet. I pulled it out not long ago to erase and give to a friend, but it wouldn't start -- stuck at the 'welcome: powering up' screen perpetually (or at least for a bit over an hour, after which my patience gave out).
My immediate guess was the HD died (there had been some video stuttering when I last used it, which is why I upgraded). But replacing with a brand new WD green didn't change a thing -- first I tried an MFS Tools copy of the old HD, and when that didn't work I located a factory disk image, and when that didn't work I tried again with InstantCake.
Next guess was the power supply -- one of the caps kinda-sorta looked like it might be bowed out, and I figured it's borderline possible that I'm getting enough juice to power the MB but not the HD, or something like that. So I ordered a replacement PS from WeaKness and gave that a shot. But again, no dice.
So: What options do I have at this point? Best to just recycle the accursed thing and be done with it, or is there some deeper magic I haven't yet managed to Google?
