RF Remote Converter range decreased

our RF Remote Converter doesn't have the range it used to have. it has not been moved but the range is only about 20 feet. (we never got anywhere near the 100 feet advertised) I need about ten more feet to be able to use it from one of the rooms. it used to work in this room but now I have to walk down the hall to get it to work.

do they weaken over time?

also I have replaced the batteries with new batteries and they don't last more than a few days at best.

You might have a new source of interference in the area that is impacting the signal. You might also need a new remote and/or new transmitter. You might try taking it to another location in your home (or another home) to see if things change--that would help determine if the problem is interference.
