  • Problems with Tivo Edge and Tivo Mini on Moca

I have been using a Romio as my Moca bridge. Also on the Moca network have been a Mini and an XL4. The mini was able to stream live TV and could access recordings on the XL4 and Romio. I just got an Edge. I intend to use the Edge as my primary Unit, and use either the XL4 or (more likely) the Romio (with a hard drive replacement) in another room as a backup and for additional storage. (The Mini is in a third room.) When setting up the Edge, I identified it as the bridge in Moca. Things have not gone well thereafter.

If the XL4 and the Edge are both on Coax, then the XL4 sees the Edge and the Edge sees the XL4, and recorded shows can be accessed. The Mini will also access both DVRs, but no live TV will appear on the Mini. It gives an error message that the Romio is disconnected and it cannot find a tuner.

If the Romio and the Edge are both on Coax, the Romio sees the Edge and the Edge sees the Romio, and each DVR can access recordings on the other. However, while it seems that the Mini is getting Live TV from the Romio, the Romio is not listed under "devices" and so recordings there cannot be accessed by the Mini.

Also (in case this might be an issue) with an Edge for cable with a tuning adapter, for the Edge to operate as the bridge, should the coax connections be different (currently input to tuning adapter, tuning adapter to Edge).

    Thanks for any help.

I think you have the setup right, but you need to identify the Edge as the lead DVR for the Mini. Go into the Mini's settings and you should be able to switch it.
    Been here a long time . . .
