  • New TV doesn't 'see' TiVo Edge

I purchased and set up a new Samsung OLED TV yesterday, and to my surprise, the Edge came up during the setup and was working fine. Then, after turning off the TV for a couple of hours, the TV wouldn't see it, even tho it was connected and the TV had a green checkmark showing it was connected. The only thing that worked was rebooting the Edge. Then again today, twice, the same thing happened EVERY time we turned off the TV. I have to pull the plug on the Edge, wait a minute or so, and then plug it back in to reboot it.

Has anyone else encountered this scenario? Very annoying.

For the record, the Edge is booted from a Weaknees 3TB external drive since the original POS Seagate 2TB went **** up last month.

Your situation sounds like it is related to the TiVo's default Energy Saver settings. When set high, the unit appears to shut off, but it is simply in standby. To wake the TiVo, use the TiVo button at the top of your remote.

We recommend that you change the settings to OFF, in the following way:

TiVo Experience 4 (Menu path from HOME):
MENU > SETTINGS > REMOTE, CABLECARD, & DEVICES > POWER SAVING SETTINGS

Well, it turns out the settings were already OFF. Any other suggestions?

In that case your TV is trying to control the TiVo through the HDMI cable; you would want to review your TV's manual and see how to turn off that communication.
