  • 30 second skip and scan question

Hi, I have a TiVo Roamio with 2 satellite boxes. On the main box and one of the satellite boxes, the 30 second skip works as an instant skip. On the second satellite box, the 30 second skip works as a 30 second scan (visually scans through the 30 seconds). How do I get it to do a 30 second instant skip? I have tried the
    Select - Play - Select - 3 - 0 - Select

    and
    Select - Select - Play - Select - 3 - 0 - Select
Neither of these remote sequences works.
Any help with this is appreciated.
    Thanks in advance.

Are you doing this while playing a pre-recorded show? If not, try that.
    Been here a long time . . .

You're definitely pressing Select and not Enter?

I'd try rebooting the Mini and then try again and see if that does it.

I've rebooted it several times but I'll try it again. I also have another satellite box that I will try.
I assume the satellite boxes are capable of skip rather than scan. Yes?

Yup. I personally use it all the time on one of my Minis.

Make sure you are doing this while watching a recorded program. I literally just programmed this into my Mini last night.

I am doing this while watching a recorded program. I'm actually not a rookie at this. I programmed my first 30 second skip on my HDR 312 over 20 years ago. There have been a few times that I had trouble programming the 30 sec skip over the years but eventually got it. This one seems to be a tough nut to crack. Not sure why. I will try it yet again tonight.
                    Thanks for the responses.

OK - if that doesn't do it, I'm honestly not sure what other options to offer you.

I think I may have figured out reason the 30 second skip does not work on one of my minis. I actually have 3 minis but I'm only using 2 currently. I was able to get my mini in my living room to 30 sec skip which is connected using coax cable. The one that I cannot get to 30 sec skip is at my outdoor bar which is connected with ethernet. I connected the mini that was not being used at the bar location and was not able to get the 30 sec skip to work. I connected the mini from the outdoor bar to the living room location and I got 30 sec skip to work. Ethernet connected seems to be the common denominator of the ones that don't 30 sec skip.
Question: Has anybody gotten the 30 sec skip to work while using ethernet as their connection method?

I'm using ethernet on mine. No problem on the 30 second skip.

You've got an interesting correlation there, but I really don't see how they could be related.

Maybe something about the remote you're using out there?

Tried different remotes too. The only thing in common is the ethernet connection. I agree, it shouldn't have anything to do with it but I can't think of any other reason.

So try one of those Minis in the location where the other Mini is inside and see if it works.
