Suddenly today, Roamio stops recording after minute and a few seconds.

  • Suddenly today, Roamio stops recording after minute and a few seconds.

    Roamio 3 TB. Spectrum, cable card + tuning adapter.

    This just started today. I’ve observed this on 2 different channels.

    I tune to a show and press record.

    After 1:09, the screen goes black, no sound for about 5 seconds, then the show resumes.

    Recording stops—in my shows it says ‘partial’.

    i tried it 5 times in a row—the partial time was 1:07, 1:04, 1:04, 1:09, 1:07.

    It has been working perfectly for 5 years—this behavior started today.

    I restarted, did not fix it. I went to Settings - Help - Reset to Defaults - Clear and Delete Everything, did not fix it.

    i’m wondering what to do. 1) Perhaps one of you have seen these symptoms and know what’s going on? 2) Next I can call Tivo support. 3) Next send it in to Weaknees for diagnosis/repair. Any other ideas?

    Update—Spectrum tech support now (11:00 AM) says there is an outage in my area. It is possible this is not a coincidence and that the cable was flaky this morning at !:00 AM and perhaps was the cause of this. When service is restored i’ll try again.

      Its been a couple of days and it is working fine.

      So it seems the root cause was the spectrum cable issues. I’ve never seen an issue like that though-5 second pause or channel change every minute or 10 seconds which stopped recording.

      there’s a neighborhood mailing list called Nextdoor, and a Tivo user posted about it and 4 others commented ‘me too’.
