  • How do you remove the power supply from a DSR704?

    Hi all,

I have a dead DSR704 and got a working DSR7000 to pull the power supply from. Unfortunately there are these little white plastic things mounted through the bottom of the unit and into the PB circuit board, holding it to the frame.

How can I remove this thing? I've tried clipping the tips off these plastic fasteners but that hasn't worked too well.

    Suggestions? Thanks!!

Just squeeze the tips with needle-nosed pliers, and apply upward pressure on the power supply, and the board will pop off the stand-off. Do it carefully and slowly for each one.
    Been here a long time . . .

Yeah that was the first thing I tried and didn't have much luck. I'll try again... anyone else have any other suggestions?

      Thanks!

Uh oh... swapped the power supplies (I did verify first that the replacement worked fine in the other Tivo) and now my old Tivo is stuck at the grey Welcome screen for a very abnormally long time. I'm going to give it a few more minutes and then power cycle and maybe I'l get lucky, but anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thought I was home free too...
