Lost power - thank you PG&E . After power restored there is no video output (black screen), the power light is not lit but the fan is running and the hard drive is not running. After blowing a huge amount to dust off of the insides of the unit (this is a neighbors unit, not mine) I disconnected the hard drive data cable and applied power. The drive spun up. Reconnected the cable - drive did not spin up. Does this mean that the power supply is OK and the problem is in the motherboard? Is there any further testing I can do? Are there specific components on the motherboard that fail that I can replace? Is there any possibility that the power supply is still the cause of the problem? We don't want to spend too much to repair this unit since we (fools that we are) are planning to upgrade to Directv HD Tivo. We're sure that this will be announced as soon the payment goes through to repair or replace this broken unit. Advice?
Thanks in advance.
