TiVo Series 2 HDD Swap

Okay, this might not be possible, but I thought I check and see.

I have 2 series 2 Tivo's. A single tuner one and a dual tuner model. The single tuner model has a lifetime membership, the dual tuner does not.

Can I take the HDD out of the single tuner model and put it in the Series 2 DT unit? Will it save my lifetime membership information?

Oh yeah. The Old Series 2 single tuner has been working for 7-8 years without ever having an issue, so if there's risk involved I don't want to do it.

Sorry, but lifetime service is tied to the serial number of your TiVo, which is on the motherboard. Also, you can't move drives between those two units...it won't even boot.

Didn't think so, otherwise people would be paying a lot more on eBay for old units.

Plus you'd be able to hack in an use 1 lifetime on multiple units. At least I can upgrade the drive...
