I have a series 1 HDR312 that's been hacked for almost 10 years. A few years back I upgraded to a 500gb HD and now it's finally failing. I had previously upgraded the original 30gb drive to an 80g drive, then to the 500gb drive. Now I read that a drive can't be upgraded twice? Seems there is a lot of outdated info out there.
From what I've read, when I replace this one, I need a drive at least that big to save my recordings?
The problem is, I can't find any IDE drives bigger than 500 gigs.
So to confirm, there is no way to preserve recordings and go to a smaller drive?
Anybody know where to get an IDE drive larger than 500 gigs?
