Series 2 TCD540040 not working...

I have an old Series 2 TCD540040 that just gets to the powering up screen, and after about 30 secs reboots. I also have a working TCD24004A - I tried swapping the drives to see if it would work but it still only gets to the same point and reboots.

Should I be able to simply swap the drives for it to work? I don't think it's a power issue as the fan works, lights turn on, etc. Is there a simple fix for this?

No, those drives are not interchangeable. Sorry.

The fix, most likely, is a new drive for your TCD540040. See:
