  • Series 2 stuck in Network set-up loop

I've tried rebooting the unit several times but always get sent back to this screen...all I want to do is exit this setup screen and NOT set-up the connection as this unit will only be used as a 20~30 cache recorder while watching late-night broadcast TV.

My 2 other Tivo units have subscriptions and are used for different purposes.

    TIA!

You can't exit setup...you have to complete it.

      RE: Setup

I can't as I have no Tivo subscription for that unit...there has to be another way out, no?

        Re: stuck loop

perhaps all I need to do is disconnect the hdd and plug the Tivo back in and it will reset itself back to the main menu, anybody else have some suggestions?

        TIA!

          RE; Tivo loop

When I had called Tivo last Thursday asking about using my 3rd Tivo unit as being used only as a 20~30 minute cache memory tool the agent was perfectly ok with that and told me that it would work in that capacity. Thus, there isn't an issue as to what I'm doing is right/wrong (maybe because I already own the unit and it was purchased directly from Tivo) but rather how I can make it work to perform that task as a cache memory tool, since I already have 2 other Tivos with paid subscriptions and really have no other use for this 3rd unit except for the already explained intent. So I don't feel that I am taking advantage of the Tivo company but only asking for some friendly advice, thanks.

You don't need a TiVo subscription to complete setup. It won't record new shows after setup, but I think you'll still be able to see your existing recordings.
            Been here a long time . . .

              RE; Live TV

I had called Tivo today and they helped me finish the Guided set-up process which enabled me to exit from that fixed loop now getting back to the Tivo Central menu. As usual, they were great to work with and very helpful.

How-ever, I now can't get live tv broadcasts on the TV. The external antenna feeds into the digital box which feeds into the Tivo and then back to the TV. I've also tried the IR connectors on the Motorola Digital converter box but to no success. Actually, I don't believe that the converter box even has the capability of sending a signal to the IR cable unless if it's thru the remote sensor of which I doubt.

              Any suggestions?
              TIA.

The TiVo sends the IR signal through the IR blaster, which controls *compatible* converter boxes...just like with a cable box. You'd want to check TiVo's site for a list of compatible converter boxes.
