  • TCD652160 TIVO HD loses reception on some channels

My TCD652160 TIVO HD will lose certain channels and must be rebooted to get the channels back.

Example: I use the guide to find a program, press select and the channel seems to be displayed but no video or sound. This is not isolated to any one tuner in the unit and not isolated to any one channel. It is the HD channels. I reboot the system either with the Reset on the TIVO Menu or by unplugging the unit and once the unit reboots I get the channels back. This happens every few days.

I upgraded the unit to 750GB from Weaknees several months back and have not had any issues. This doesn't seem to be associated with that upgrade.

Any idea of the cause or a fix?

My guess is that you have a failing CableCARD. I'd start with that - get your cable company to swap the card.

Not receiving certain channels often indicates a bad card or an improperly-programmed card.

I have the same problem —don't get many channels— on my TiVo Series 3 with two cable cards. Comcast tells me they no longer provide this type of single-stream cable card. Is there any hope, or am I out of luck?

You can use two Multistream cards in your unit instead - just be sure to get two. Ask Comcast to swap yours out.
