    Error#51 /C&DE problem

    I replaced the HDD in my TivoHD and did'nt know at the time that the HDD and MB were "married". So, using WinMFS, I restored a truncated backup from another Tivo. I got "Error 51"....did the C&DE...still NG. I put the original HDD that came in the Tivo (that I stored for safe keeping) the MB is rejecting that as well. So I have a perfectly good 1TB HDD with a backup that the Tivo is rejecting. I think I remember a disc that was available at WK or elsewhere that I could use to setup a new HDD. Hope it wasn't my imagination.

    What does this mean? You are getting an Error 51 even with your original, factory drive?

      As I understand it....If you make a backup of a drive from one Tivo and restore it to a different Tivo, or take the drive out of one Tivo and put it into another, the Tivo will not let you record or view recorded programs. It instructs you to do a "Clear and delete everything" from the settings menu. Then it says that if after re-booting call tech support and report that you have an "Error 51".

      After I cloned the original HDD to a 1TB I put that original drive in the closet. I re-installed that original HDD in the Tivo but the Tivo no longer accepted that original drive.

        Perhaps you are installing the "original" drive in the wrong TiVo?
