    Black screen while fast forwarding

    My original series3 and two of my newer HD tivo units will display a black screen when I fast forward through a recorded show. It is an intermitent
    problem that doesn't happen with older(6-8 month) shows. Don't know if this is some sort of anti-tivo programming in the tv commercials?

    Never seen that. Same on all units? On all channels?

      yes, when you ff through commercials about a few seconds(real time) the screen goes black, then will come back in another few seconds. Usually into the show. All three of my tivo do this (each unit is a different age). shows that are a couple of months old don't do it.

        Maybe that's some new HDCP flag that your broadcaster is using.

        So you can't effectively fast-forward then? Because you don't know where to stop.

          Thats the problem. I have RCN out of Boston, and the just teamed up with Tivo so I don't know why they would do this.
