OK- My steady Philips DSR708 started throwing sparks out the back and died
I love this DVR as it has saved on it some of my cherished tv shows and most importantly over 100 season passes on it that I in no way will remember all of them (maybe that is a sign....) I know I can buy a newer, better HD DVR for under $200 (although the quantity of season passes is questionable.) But I really would like to salvage this one at least until Directv comes out with their newest Tivo box.
Anyhoo - I am far from a techie, but I can open up a computer and change out drives, fans, add memory, etc. But my question is: is sparks coming out the back a power thing that I maybe can fix, something I need to send in to a repair shop, or is it a lost cause?
Any help is appreciated.
