  • Now Playing List - Mostly Depopulated Overnight

Maybe 35 groups/shows disappeared from Now Playing overnight, including most of the last season of "24." Maybe 8 groups/shows remain, perhaps all of them the most recently recorded (though I have watched stuff from the full list since most of these remaining shows were recorded).

Series 3, maybe 3 years old, never had a problem.

Only theory, and it's weak, is that the season pass scheduled all the Tour De France over the next three weeks and that would have filled up the capacity (not sure it would, just guessing), so the program de-indexed the older shows to allow room.

Other, weaker theory - new networked HD-XL searched the hard drive on the Series 3 when I was thinking of transferring shows and tweaked something.

Any tips? Tivo's first guess was to check recently deleted. We'll see what their second guess is.

Check the recording history to see why these things were deleted. Are they in the 'recently deleted items' folder?

They are not in recently deleted, and Recording History stops at 6/18, which is about when the now-remaining Now Playing list begins, except for the KUID Cycling Season Pass content.

This from a TIVO FAQ suggests the recently deleted file was also cleared by the to do list:

"TiVo will delete the oldest recording on the DVR when and only when the (a) the disk is full, (b) all recordings have been cleared from the Suggestions and Recently Deleted folders, and (c) space is required for a new recording scheduled by the user. The user can set single recordings or entire series to "keep until I delete," and the TiVo will not delete those programs under any circumstances."

I would have expected things to disappear one by one as the schedule looked forward and saw a new day's worth of Tour De France, but maybe that schedule was loaded all at once (??) - it's over 60 hours of regular definition TV. But if so, I would have liked to be able to clear it from To Do and retrieve the old files from Recently Deleted, and I would have liked to check the Recording History file and seen those shows as having been deleted to make room for the To Do list, neither of which is the case, so I only have a theory.

But the Tour isn't one long recording, is it?

If the shows you had (24) were in SD and the Tour is HD, then one four hour recording could easily wipe 30 hours of SD recordings.
        Been here a long time . . .

No the Tour is separate SD recordings. Tivo thinks it's what I copied in here, which I guess means I think that program's flawed - old shows should be wiped out as new shows are recorded, not as new shows are scheduled, and warning messages should come up when the schedule occurs, and the wiped out shows should be in recently deleted so that the to do can be taken off and the recently deleted added back in.
