  • Sporadic Glitching

I am having a problem with my Hughes HDVR2. The picture jumps/shakes horizontally at random intervals. Sometimes it will happen for a second or two, while at other times it will go on for up to a minute. Of course this is all sporadic, and I never know when it will happen. Sometimes it takes hours between the glitching.

Initially, I thought it might be the motherboard. However, I find that the picture shaking is being recorded, so I'm thinking it's the hard drive. Also, while watching a live program I can rewind to the spot in the buffer where the shaking took place. So, I am wondering if this is actually my hard drive or the motherboard?

If it's recorded, that's usually the programming source or the tuner chips, depending on the setup.

    What model TiVo is it?

I ruled out programming source because none of my other machines are experiencing this problem. I'll have to look at the tuners more closely to determine if one or both are having the same issue. It does seem likely that it's just one due to the intermittent nature of the problem.

We can fix the tuners on that unit:
