    Black Screen

    Greetings.

    My power company switched meters and my TIVO DRT800 by Humax, does not work now. It was connected thru a surge bar.

    The fan works, the HDD/DVD lights on front are amber and stay that color at plug in.

    The HD has +5V and +12V in its plug.

    I went to the Seagate site and can not find a program to test the HD.
    They say there is no listings for mod #ST830012ACE or P/N 9W6022-165.
    I do not see any other numbers to try on the label.

    The TV screen stays black.

    Any suggestions?

    If you are absolutely sure that you have the unit wired to the TV properly and it's truly outputting nothing, then it could be just about anything (since you have lights lit). If you had no lights, I'd say it is likely a power supply. I'm thinking your best bet (assuming you have lifetime service) is our flat-fee repair:

      Thanks Jeff,

      I finally determined I was looking at Samsung (my Monitor make) and clicked on that link instead of the Seagate link, my HD make.

      I ran the test and it passed.
      I removed the DVD writer and removed the battery and cleaned both sides and replaced it while waiting on the long test.
      Put the unit back together and it works?

      Sometimes it better to be lucky I guess.
