  • HIDef stations from DIRECTV vs Local Stations

I have a broadcast antenna connected to my HR 10-250. When I select a local broadcast station TIVO switches to the antenna and I receive a good signal.

When I do a broadcast signal strength test however, there is no signal evident below channel 44. Could these signals actually be coming via the satellite even thou it says they are coming via my local antenna.

Does DIRECTV receive the HiDef signals from local stations in the New York market? Can I select the DIRECTV signal over the local antenna signal? The SAT/TV button on the remote seems irrelevant.

Also, what plans does DIRECTV have to begin carrying non-broadcast programming in HiDef?

    Thanks.

In the signal test, there is a difference between channel and frequency. For me, channel 4-1 is on frequency 33 for example. So not seeing anything below frequency 44 doesn't mean you aren't getting locals from the antenna.

DTV does broadcast HD locals in New York - but all channels are in the 70s and 80s. If you choose a channel like CBSE, that's the East Coast feed of HD CBS.
    Been here a long time . . .
