    Start up Problems

    I have a Tivo HD model TCD652160. I suddenly stopped working and has a black screen. When I do a reboot it says powering up and after a minute or two goes back to the black screen.

    I have tried the Kickstart 54 but it does the same thing. I assume it might be the hard drive. The fan is working and I get the green yellow and red lights when I do the Kickstart.

    I have an external hard drive and have tried the reboot with it connected and not connected. The same holds true for the Cable Adapter I have with it.

    Is there anyway I can be sure it is the hard drive or might it be something else?

    Hard to know - it does sound like a drive, but I also wonder if it can be a TV resolution issue. Have you tried pressing the "format" button on the front to cycle through the formats and see if any show on the TV? Does the TiVo even show the different formats on its faceplate when you do that?

    This button isn't operable until the unit fully boots, so give it a few minutes after you get the black screen before you try the other resolutions.

      Tried pressing the format button but nothing happened... Thanks for the advice...I guess my next step is to find out how I can send it in for a look see and repair.
