Well, I tried TIVO customer support and they weren't much help, so I thought I'd try here. This is the situation:
I have a DRT-800. Comcast cable comes in from wall, splits to Pace RNG110 converter box via coax. The other split is to Comcast Dual tuner DVR. Composite out from RNG110 to back of TIVO. I also have an HDMI cable out from the RNG110 to one of the HDMI ins on mu AV receiver. The TIVO itself, however, is all SD/analog.
Since I got the DRT-800 in 2005, I have been able to burn DVDs of my favorite shows, including premium channels. Makes sense, since it's in SD. In other words, this setup has worked flawlessly for over three years.
However, now, NOTHING recorded from Comcast will burn to DVD. This has been going on for several months now. I always get the message: "Due to the policy set by the copyright holder, this recording cannot be saved to DVD." This happens with EVERY program I record off Comcast.
The DVD burner does work, as I have been able to move home videos onto the unit and then burn to DVD. I have recycled power on both the DRT-800 and the RNG110, with no change.
In this HD age, I use the burner to archive hard to find movies, such as TCM's recent showing of "Two for the Sandbox," which is not available commercially anymore. It will not burn to DVD. I waited years to get it recorded, and now I can't get it onto a DVD. Frustrating.
If I can't burn DVDs of previously recorded shows, I really have no need for the TIVO service, as I also have a Comcast dual tuner DVR in my setup. Anybody know if there is a solution to this problem, so I can start burning DVDs again?
