  • TIVO stuck in "Almost there..."

    I just replaced my HD with one from WK in my Tivo HD DVR. When I plugged it in, it goes to "Powering Up" and after some time, goes to "Almost there, just a few minutes more" So far I have waited over one hour and nothing more happens. Searching the forums, the answers keep saying a "Bad HD" but this is a new one from Weakknees installed today.

    What do I do next?

    just curious have you powered it down and then tried again ?
    Try unplugging the TiVo, wait 30 seconds, then plug it back in.

      Yes, I have "rebooted" a number of times. Also held the PAUSE button for a kickstart but that did not work. Disconnected the wireless antenna and booted to no avail. I just got this hard drive from Weakknees so it has to be a good one, right?

        If you post (or email) your order number and exact TiVo model number, we can tell you more.

        This behavior is exactly right if you have a TCD648250 but ordered for a TCD652160, or vice versa.

          Out with the new, in with the old

          I took out the new WD Hard Drive from Weakknees. It just did not work. I re-installed the older, smaller HD and it again works fine, so not a power supply problem, must be another bad hard drive. How often does WK send bad products? I have bought at least two Tivos and one other HD from them, but I am fearful of the quality. It is a pain to do all this troubleshooting, etc. My whole Saturday is shot (oh, poor me!)

          Would like anyone's thoughts on this.

            Thanks for your quick response. The order/Invoice # is WK-725684 in the last 10 days or so. The model is TCD652160. I have ordered a lot from WK so you should be able to look me up. Thanks.

              Got it - that's the right model number, so we need to get it back and see what's up with it.
