I have a Toshiba SD-H400 with lifetime service. The unit appears to be operating fine in playback mode, but cannot receive a TV signal any longer, it gives a constant "searching for signal" message. The cable works fine right to TV. Is this a tuner problem, and if so, is it repairable? Thanks.

If you know you have a good signal to the unit (and it sounds like yours does), then the problem is a bad motherboard. It is repairable--just send us an email using the contact form here.
