    DVD Pixelation

    DRT400 tivo w/DVD Refurbished Digital Cable Box
    Everything works great except when I try to play a DVD I get little beeping noises (sounds like the old Pong game) and the picture breaks up into pixels or what look like small white lights. This varies from hardly any at all to so bad the whole screen gets that way. HELP!!!

    This is when you play a DVD that you recorded, or a store-bought one? Do the same DVDs work on other DVD players?

    Where and when did you purchase the unit?

      Got machine from a friend. He hadn't useed it at all.
      It was three diff. dvd's (store bought). Yes they work on my x-box dvd.

        Also I played a music cd in the dvd player and it sounded fine so now I'm assuming it's a video problem. Would switching to an S-video cable help?
        I don't have component jacks on my tv so I can't switch to that.

          You can try a different cable, but this sounds like a hardware problem beyond that.

          Have you tried burning a DVD and then using that elsewhere?

            So would I be wasting my time trying the diff. cable in your opinion?
            Haven't tried burning a dvd yet. Sound to you like I need to send the machine back? All the searches I've done don't seem to turn up anyone with a similiar problem. Lucky me.

              I think a new cable is really unlikely to fix the problem . . .
