  • TiVo Desktop not seeing my DVR

I'm running TiVo Desktop Plus 2.7. I have 3 TiVos in the house. The newest of the 3 is an HD and I just sent it to you to replace a failed hard drive. I'm up and running now, but I've noticed that TiVo Desktop isn't listing my HD as an option for transfers. It is on the network. It can download the programming from TiVo. It can see my other TiVos in the Now Playing list. It can even run the HD Photos application that is new in this version of Desktop. I can connect to it with my browser by using https://ipaddress.

I know version 2.7 uses the new Apple Bonjour application as part of the discovery service. I gather this replaced the Beacon service.

I do not have any software firewalls on my computer, and my computer is discovering the other 2 TiVos. Any other suggestions?

Go online to TiVo.com and see if transfers are enabled. If not, enable them. If so, disable and save, force a connection from that TiVo, re-enable on the website and save, and force another connection from the TiVo.

      TiVo not showing up

Your solution probably would have worked, but I didn't need to try. One of the things I was going to do was to force a connection of the TiVo to the TiVo service, but my unit said that a pending software installation was scheduled for 2:00 AM and it wouldn't let me connect. I decided to give it time. Don't know if the software update or the connection to the TiVo network resolved it, but as of this morning, the unit is now showing up.

      Thanks for the tips.

Excellent - it must have been loading a new OS, and something in there forced it to check in and get the latest configuration info.
